I believe there are no accidents, we attract everyone and everything in our lives, most often, at the exact moment that we need them. I received a call from Keystone Hospice, Sept. 2, 2010, asking if I could reach out and offer support to Sue and Hector Badeau. I reached out to find an extraordinary family, bound by love, in the midst of caring for their beloved son, Dylan. We met, Sept. 4th, and an immediate bond was formed, as I had lost my beloved sister Aimee, who also had Special Needs, and I understood and felt the Badeau's pain, as much as another could.
Dylan passed, Sept. 9, 2010, on his birthday, and during the brief week that I knew Dylan, felt his energy, it was clear how much Dylan was cherished and loved, by his family. Even as Sue, Hector, and Dylan's siblings were grieving, all with heavy hearts, The Badeau's reached out, asking how they could help forward Aimee's Bulletin, a directive clarifying numerous laws dealing with healthcare decision-making for adults with special needs, giving families a better understanding of their role in caring for a loved one. I had been working on insuring that Aimee's Bulletin was signed in Harrisburg, for almost five years, and it felt as though our beloved Dylan, Adam, and Aimee, our Angel Guides were now at play, determined to support our efforts. Sue and Hector quickly jumped on board, adding the voices of parents who had already lost two beloved sons, Dylan and Adam, with a third loving son, Wayne, currently terminal, we very quickly blended our hearts and families.
Aimee's Bulletin ( was signed, effective, Jan. 15, 2011, and I am 100% certain that it finally happened because of Sue Badeau's shared vision, advocacy, support and actions. It takes a very unique and special family to make a difference in the lives of 22 children, over 40 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, let alone for over 50 foster children's lives that they impacted over the years.
Sue and Hector, I salute you, for the difference you have made on this planet, the way in which you have changed so many lives for the better, and the impact you have had on so many.
With deep love, admiration and respect,
